UW Extension

Independent Learning is a part of University of Wisconsin-Extension. With a history of successful distance education beginning in 1892, it currently offers hundreds of university, high school, and continuing education courses. Independent Learning college-level courses are developed and taught by faculty and instructors affiliated with UW institutions, accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Independent Learning offers print-based courses, many with an e-mail delivery option, through the following UW departments: Business, the Environmental Resources Center, Professional Development and Applied Studies, Liberal Studies and the Arts, and the Office of Education Outreach. We draw talent from resources throughout the entire University of Wisconsin System.

Independent Learning advisors are available to answer questions regarding course selection, registration, policies, and procedures. Use the navigation links on this Web site to find out more about our program.
